The AFFU (Angels Fall First Universe) is a rich tapestry of fiction and art located in a vast universe in the far future. The universe was created from the ground up to be played out in games of all types and has huge potential for expansion.
AFF is a story of human drama. We have no aliens, no big bad monsters trying to invade the galaxy, no evil rogue machines turning on their creators. We reject these ideals in favor of a universal truth - that man is his own worst enemy.
It has been said that there are more differences between two men than between two animals of completely different species, and the hatred and intolerance that this generates is ample cause for strife-driven plot. Also it brings a familiarity and empathy to the player which is lacking in man vs alien games, forcing ethical and moral dilemma into the mixture.
The look and feel of the universe has always been a paramount concern. Collectively the members of the AFF team are fans of the grittier side of sci-fi, shows like Battlestar Galactica (new and classic) and Firefly, where people die horribly and actions have consequence. All too often space games ignore this more mature side of the genre, opting instead for garish visuals and tired plot clichés. There is no need to continue this obscene desecration of the genre, and we try our best to use taste and discretion to portray a real, plausible universe which draws together familiarity and invention.
